12 Week Technical Sewing Course
Service Description
This course is for intermediate or experienced garment makers, and is curated for people who want to understand their own body and begin designing or altering patterns to fit them perfectly. In this course you will create your own customised bodice, skirt and sleeve blocks (2D blueprints) to fit your body perfectly. ● Taking full measurements ● Ease: the difference between wearing and design ease ● Determining the best size based on some simple sums. ● Understanding common adjustments for a better fit, including: - Dart shifting - Lowering and raising bust points - Bust adjustments - Armholes - Broad/narrow back, shoulders and chest - Straight/sway back ● Block tracing ● Adjusting bodice block on paper ● Adjusting skirt block on paper ● Adjusting sleeve block on paper ● Cutting and making a toile ● Fitting a toile ● Marking adjustments on a toile ● Transferring adjustments to a paper pattern ● Cutting card blocks and applying important markings ● Basic skills in designing from block ● Using a block to adjust shop bought patterns. You will need: ● A comfortable fitted or semi-fitted t-shirt that can be marked on. ● Tape measure. ● French curve ruler also known as a pattern master. ● Mechanical pencil ● Different coloured pencils or ballpoint pens. ● Fabric marker or pen ● Sewing Machine ● Thread (coloured) ● Fabric scissors or rotary cutter (mats provided) ● Paper scissors ● Pins ● Safety pins All calico, tracing paper, cardboard, cutting mats and irons will be provided. A dressing room will be available on site. A copy of ‘Figure Your Fit’ is also included in the price.

Cancellation Policy
Students are required to be 16 years+ unless accompanied by an adult. Full payment is required at booking to secure a place on the workshop. Cancellations are permitted up to 24 hours in advance of the session start time. Students requesting a cancellation within 24 hours of the session start time will be offered a transfer to an alternative course. The transferring to an alternative course for non-attending students without correspondence is at the discretion of Laura Rae Craft Co. Laura Rae Craft Co. reserves the right to issue refunds when deemed appropriate. Students are required to complete a booking form detailing their name, telephone number, email, and home address. Personal data is collected and stored by Wix.com and will only be used for its intended purpose. Data is kept up to date and not held for longer than is necessary. Laura Rae Craft Co. requires a minimum of four students to be booked for any session. A class with fewer than three bookings may run at the discretion of the teacher, but we reserve the right to reschedule undersubscribed classes. As with the nature of group classes, late arrivals can impact the progress of the rest in the class. Laura Rae Craft Co. reserves the right to refuse entry to late arrivals if it is deemed detrimental on the wider class. If students are running late, please contact the class tutor. In the unlikely event where Laura Rae Craft Co. needs to cancel inor postpone a class due to an unavoidable circumstance (extreme weather, venue issues, sickness), students will be given notice of this prior to the event. Where possible, you will receive no less than 24 hours, although this is sometimes unavoidable. Students will be entitled to a refund or enrolment to an alternative course.
